M. Reza Jafari was born on March 21, 1985 in Afghanistan. He emigrated to Iran with his family in 1985 and grew up there. In 2003 he graduated from high school in history and studied directing and cinematography at a private film school (Haft-Honar) until 2005.

M. Reza Jafari moved back to Afghanistan in 2005 and worked there as a cameraman until 2015. He had to leave his homeland for security reasons at the end of 2015 and has lived in Switzerland ever since. In 2018 he was able to enter the Zurich University of the Arts and continue his passion in the field of camera and directing.
